Ece ÇAM – Şevval CİNDİR / ISTANBUL, (DHA) – MAKTEK Eurasia 2026 is bringing the manufacturing technologies and machine tools industry together in Istanbul around new products, advanced manufacturing technologies and international business opportunities. A total of 1,208 machines, 132 robots and thousands of pieces of equipment are being showcased to industry professionals at MAKTEK Eurasia 2026, while the transformation taking place in manufacturing technologies is being presented to visitors through a variety of experience zones and events.

Organised by Tüyap Fairs and Exhibitions Organisation Inc. in cooperation with the Machine Tools Industrialists and Businesspeople Association (TİAD), and supported by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye and the Machinery Manufacturers Association (MİB), MAKTEK Eurasia 2026 is taking place at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center from 28 September to 3 October. Held for the ninth time this year, the exhibition is showcasing the transformation of the manufacturing ecosystem from multiple perspectives through new product launches, technology experiences and international business meetings. At the MAKTEKVERSE area, visitors can experience artificial intelligence, digital twin, VR and robotics technologies, while solutions being exhibited in Türkiye for the first time are also on display. More than 200 international buyers from 18 countries are meeting exhibitors at the event.

‘WE WELCOMED VISITORS FROM 52 COUNTRIES’

Speaking at the exhibition, İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of Tüyap Fairs and Exhibitions Organisation Inc. and Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Fair Organisers Association, said:

“MAKTEK Eurasia 2026 opened to visitors yesterday, and we have seen excellent attendance from the very first day. Looking at the businesspeople, professional visitors and investors attending the exhibition, we welcomed visitors from 52 countries on the first day alone. We expect visitors from nearly 100 countries over the course of the exhibition. “Companies went through a very intensive preparation process for the event. There are 1,208 machines and 132 robots on display. There is no other platform where such a large number of machines, equipment and robotic systems are exhibited together.“Our exhibition features technology products being showcased for the first time, digital equipment, machinery, machine tools, CNC machining systems, five-axis machines, automation systems and a wide range of other product groups, all the way through to the integration of artificial intelligence into manufacturing, as well as numerous new product launches. “The machinery required by factories and manufacturing facilities operating across every sector is currently on display at our exhibition venue. Alongside next-generation, smart and precision machinery, visitors can also see the machines, technologies and robotic systems of the future. “In short, virtually every type of equipment required for manufacturing can be found here. This is why MAKTEK Eurasia has become such an important meeting platform for industrialists, exporters and manufacturers throughout our wider region. MAKTEK Eurasia continues to grow.”

‘OPEN TO VISITORS FOR THE NINTH TIME’

Noting that the exhibition is being held for the ninth time this year, Ersözlü continued:

“The fact that we have opened this year’s exhibition with a 50 per cent increase in the number of companies participating directly from abroad is highly significant. Some of the world’s leading global brands are currently showcasing their products here. They are coming to MAKTEK Eurasia to supply machinery and technology to both the Turkish market and the wider Eurasian region within our geographical sphere of influence, and to find new solution partners.

“The business connections established by participating companies and the commercial volume they generate are also extremely encouraging. We began to see this atmosphere reflected in the exhibition from the very first day, and we expect a considerable volume of business to be generated by the time the event closes. “This will be an exhibition that makes a major direct and indirect contribution to Türkiye’s machinery exports. Our research has shown a similar pattern in previous years. When we consider that negotiations and agreements relating to Türkiye’s machinery exports continue for approximately six months to one year after the exhibition, we anticipate that MAKTEK Eurasia will make a very significant contribution to machinery exports.”

‘WE ARE A KEY SECTOR FOR THE DEFENCE AND AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES’

Murat Akyüz, Chairman of the Board of the Machine Tools Industrialists and Businesspeople Association, said: “Our exhibition currently extends across 14 halls and covers an area of 120,000 square metres. Not a single square metre is left unused. It is an extremely comprehensive exhibition showcasing high-technology machinery and solutions. “What makes this exhibition particularly significant is this: in 1999, when the automotive industry’s exports stood at USD 1 billion, we were there. Later, when that figure rose to USD 35 billion, we were still there. “You cannot manufacture or export these products without these machines because they are extremely high-precision machines capable of advanced technological processing and manufacturing. “Technology is now making major advances every five years, and development is progressing at an extraordinary pace. Technology has never advanced as quickly as it does today, but at the same time, it will never again advance as slowly as it does today.“Our defence industry, which is currently one of the country’s flagship sectors, is also growing thanks to exhibitions such as this one and the contribution this exhibition makes to the defence industry, and it will continue to grow. “We are one of the key sectors serving the defence and aerospace industries, and this exhibition is one of their key exhibitions. This year, around 120 to 130 companies from the defence and aerospace industries are expected to visit the event. These include companies manufacturing components for the defence, aerospace and even space industries. “These companies will come here to plan their machinery investments as well as their technology and investment strategies for the period ahead. “This exhibition is not simply a platform bringing together people who want to buy or sell machinery. It is also an event where we can plan for the future and see the direction in which the future is evolving and taking shape, because the demand for increasingly advanced technology is growing every day.”

‘THESE MACHINES ARE THE MOTHER OF EVERYTHING’

Emphasising the importance of the exhibition for the industry, Akyüz said: “These machines are the mother of everything, and this exhibition is the mother of everything. If you want to manufacture a furniture-making machine, you need these machines. If you want to manufacture agricultural machinery, you need these machines as well. “From the glasses we wear to textiles, everything comes from a machine, and those machines themselves are produced using machine tools. That is why they are so important. “Machines are evolving and will continue to evolve. However, the important thing is not merely to manufacture the machines exhibited here. We have companies and members that manufacture these machines, but at the same time, we also need to transfer technology. “There are extremely advanced machines around the world. We are able to manufacture for the defence and aerospace industries using these high-end machines. Such machines are produced by countries such as Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom, which have 200 to 300 years of industrialisation experience. “We therefore need to transfer their technology here as well. Through technology transfer, we need to adopt a hybrid approach: we should manufacture domestically while also transferring technology, combining it with artificial intelligence and enabling systems to communicate with one another. “We need to increase our productivity and technological capabilities every single day. Exhibitions are extremely important if we are to avoid falling behind.”
